I just got around to listening to the new solo album from Eric Copeland of Black Dice, Alien in a Garbage Can, and I will say, in a year of fairly unimpressive music releases I'm enjoying it quite a bit. The album combines Black Dice's classic use of samples and noisy hooks with a raw, "found-sound" sort of vibe that's at times reminiscent of early hip-hop, 80's synth-pop, and un poco de Mexicana. Extra props to Copeland for referencing both reptilian humanoids and vampires in the track-listing. Here's a taste:
